Short Cuts: Philosophy

Short Cuts: Navigate Your Way Through Big Ideas is a book series offering an accessible introduction to complex topics. Each title presents 50 expert-written questions and answers, each paired with a full-page illustration that brings abstract ideas to life.

I was invited to illustrate one of the first books in the series – Short Cuts: Philosophy – contributing 50 visual interpretations of philosophical concepts ranging from metaphysics to AI. These images often use symbolic visual language to distill and communicate the essence of the idea.

The book was printed in three bold spot colours – blue, yellow and pink. By layering inks and using transparency, the illustrations create depth and texture with a limited palette, resulting in a playful yet conceptually rich aesthetic.
